Combine the sugar and orange syrup in a saucepan
Cook over low heat until the sugar dissolves
Beat the egg yolks slightly
Add a little of the orange syrup mixture
Beat well
Add the remaining ingredients and mix well
Cook over low heat until it thickens slightly
Let it cool
Combine with whipped cream, beaten in chantilly
Chill in the refrigerator
Serve over chocolate ice cream
If desired, garnish with crystallized orange zest pieces.
