Heat the milk almost to boiling point
Let it cool down
Mix with yeast and 2 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl and let it rest for 10 minutes
Add oil, sugar, salt, egg, and 2 cups of flour
Beat with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes, scraping the sides of the bowl occasionally
Do not overmix
Place the dough in a lightly floured bowl and let it rise in a protected place covered for about 50 minutes
Reduce the dough to size with your hands
Divide into 2 parts
Dust the tops with flour
Divide each part into 12 balls and place them in a square mold of 20 cm or round mold of 22 cm diameter, leaving some space between them
Cover and let it rise for another 50 minutes
Bake in a moderate oven (180°C) for 20 minutes or until golden brown
If desired, brush with butter or margarine and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before removing from the oven
Can be served warm or cold.
