1 can of pears in syrup
1 large chocolate tablet, semi-sweet
3 soup spoons of orange liqueur, Benedictine, or Amaretto
2 egg whites
4 soup spoons of sugar
1 can of pears in syrup

Drain the pear halves
Arrange them in a refrigerator-proof dish with the cut side facing up
Chop the chocolate into small pieces
Place some pieces on top of each pear half
Douse with your preferred liqueur
Beat the egg whites until fluffy
Gradually add sugar, beating well to achieve meringue-like consistency
Top each pear half with meringue
Bake in a preheated oven (200°C) until the meringue is golden brown
Serve immediately
