Cream the butter or margarine with a spatula
Add the confectioners' sugar and vanilla extract and continue creaming until smooth
Add the egg whites one at a time, mixing well after each addition
Add the melted chocolate and flour mixture; mix until just combined
Fold in the beaten egg whites
Grease a 19cm round cake pan with butter and dust with flour
Pour the pudding into the prepared pan and bake in a moderate oven (180°C) for about 45 minutes
Let cool for 15 minutes before removing from the mold
Serve warm, if desired
