For the syrup:
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of dark brown sugar well pressed into a cup
For the drink:
Cubes of ice
1 dose of dark rum
2 spoons (soupspoon) of syrup made with dark brown sugar
2 spoons (tablespoon) of freshly squeezed lemon juice
A few drops of Angostura bitters
Ground nutmeg

Prepare the syrup: In a saucepan, combine water and dark brown sugar
Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar, then simmer for 5 minutes without stirring
Let it cool, then reserve in a closed glass jar
Prepare the drink: Place ice cubes in a medium-sized cup
Add the rum, reserved syrup, lemon juice, and Angostura bitters to taste
Sprinkle with ground nutmeg
Serve chilled.
