Grate the carrot using a coarse grater and cut the apple into cubes
In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, walnuts, carrot, and apple
Season with salt and mix well
Spread the filling over half of the bread slices and cover with the remaining ones
Place them on a baking dish, cover with a clean linen cloth, and refrigerate for several hours before serving.
