1 pound of firm bread, unsliced
100g cream cheese
125g cheddar cheese
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 egg whites beaten until stiff

Cut off the crust from the loaf; cut the loaf into 3cm cubes
Melt the cheeses with butter or margarine, preferably in a bain-marie, until it has a consistency like thick sauce
Remove from heat
Add the egg whites
Dip the bread cubes into this mixture, making sure they're well coated
Place in a baking dish and refrigerate overnight
Bake in a hot oven for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown
Allow to cool for approximately 4 days
