Mix together the flour and baking soda
In another bowl, beat the butter or margarine with the granulated sugar
Add the egg and milk to the butter mixture and beat well
Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing well
Add the figs and guava, mixing gently
Place in a 26 x 40cm baking dish, greased and floured
Bake in a moderate oven (180°C) for about 40 minutes
Cut into squares and serve warm with whipped cream or chantilly cream
Serves 8 to 10 people.
