1 cup of water
1 pinch of salt
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
1 3/4 cups of wheat flour
4 to 5 eggs
Frying oil
1 jar of plum gelatin (500g)
1/2 cup (60g) of almonds or hazelnuts, finely chopped
2 to 3 tablespoons of rum
1 to 2 tablespoons of almond extract
100g of chocolate shavings
Baker's sugar
1 cup of water
1 pinch of salt
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
1 3/4 cups of wheat flour
4 to 5 eggs
Frying oil
1 jar of plum gelatin (500g)
1/2 cup (60g) of almonds or hazelnuts, finely chopped
2 to 3 tablespoons of rum
1 to 2 tablespoons of almond extract
100g of chocolate shavings
Baker's sugar
Mix the water, salt, and butter or margarine in a saucepan and bring to a boil
Remove from heat and gradually add the flour, stirring until a ball forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan
Place the dough immediately in a bowl and mix in an egg, stirring well
Allow the dough to cool
Add the remaining eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition
(Do not add the next egg until the previous one is fully incorporated into the dough.)
After the fourth egg, test the dough: if it's bright and falls off the spoon in long strips, no additional eggs are needed
Heat the frying oil
Using a spoon dipped in hot oil, drop small portions of the dough into the oil and fry until lightly browned
Remove from oil and drain on paper towels
Immediately make a small incision on one side to allow any steam to escape
Mix the plum gelatin with almonds or hazelnuts, rum, almond extract, and fill the dream cakes
Dust with chocolate shavings and confectioner's sugar
Serve immediately
Yields 30 dream cakes.
