In a large pot, combine the bananas (1 1/2 cups) and beef broth
Let it simmer and cook slowly over moderate heat, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes
Meanwhile, fry the onion, green pepper, and garlic in olive oil until they soften
Add the shredded coconut and fry for another 3 minutes or until the coconut browns
Combine this mixture with the banana, season to taste with salt, black pepper, and hot sauce
Cover and cook the soup slowly for 15 minutes
Serve 6 portions.
