4 tablespoons of butter
3 medium onions, finely sliced
2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
salt and black pepper to taste
3 cups of beef broth
2 1/4 cups of water
2 cups of angel hair macaroni, uncooked
2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese
additional butter and breadcrumbs for serving

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat
Add the onions and cook until they start to brown, stirring occasionally
Remove the onions and set aside
Add the flour to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes
Season with salt and black pepper
Gradually add the beef broth and water, whisking constantly
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer
Add the reserved onions, macaroni, and Parmesan cheese
Cover the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes
Remove from heat, stir until the cheese has melted
Serve hot in individual cups, topping with additional butter and breadcrumbs
