1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla
artificial sweetener to taste
3 eggs, separated
2 tablespoons of cornstarch

Melt the butter or margarine in a medium saucepan
Add the flour
Mix well
Add the milk, vanilla, and sweetener
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens
Let it simmer for 1 minute
Let it cool
Beat the egg whites until snowy
Add the cornstarch gradually, beating always
Beat the yolks and add to the cooled milk mixture
Add the soufflé
Place in a deep dish
Bake in a moderate oven for about 45 minutes or until puffed and golden
Serve immediately
Serves 6 portions
