In a large saucepan, combine all the ingredients, except for the chocolate, and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until you reach a slightly thickened consistency (around 15 minutes)
Transfer to a large bowl and let cool
Cover with plastic wrap and reserve in the freezer until firm (around two hours)
In a blender, blend the ice cream until creamy
Add the chocolate and mix until the pieces are evenly distributed
Cover and return to the freezer until firm
Before serving, let sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes
Use a scoop to distribute the ice cream among plates and serve immediately.
