4 washed and peeled tangerines

6 ground cardamoms, sifted

Cut the tangerines into slices with a sharp knife
Carefully remove the seeds and peel, setting aside the fruit

In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil over medium heat
Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves, then let simmer for 10 minutes or until a syrup forms
Remove from heat and let cool

Arrange the tangerine slices in a compote dish and pour the syrup over them
Dust with ground cardamom and refrigerate until serving time.
