Mix the hot water, a quarter cup of sugar, the strong brewed coffee, the coffee liqueur or brandy, and vanilla extract. Reserve
Set aside
Line the bottom of the refrigerator with half of the ladyfingers
Soak with half of the coffee syrup
Mix the mascarpone cheese with two tablespoons of cocoa powder. Reserve
In a blender, blend the chilled cream until it forms stiff peaks
Fold in the mascarpone mixture
Spread half of this cream over the ladyfingers in the refrigerator
Moisten the remaining ladyfingers in the coffee syrup and arrange them on top of the dessert
Top with the remaining cream and let it chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours
Mix the remaining sugar with the cocoa powder or chocolate
Sprinkle over the tiramisu and serve.
