Slice the onions into rings
Separate into individual onion rings and soak in cold water for 2 hours
Drain and pat dry with paper towels
Make the batter: in a bowl, mix the egg and yogurt
Add the sifted flour with salt and yeast, and beat until smooth
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat
Coat the onion rings in the batter and fry in hot oil
Fry in batches, about 4-5 minutes per batch, or until golden brown and crispy
Drain on paper towels
Serve warm.
