1 batch of dough balls
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vegetable oil for frying
1/4 cup granulated sugar
Cinnamon to taste

Prepare the dough ball mixture by adding the butter and flour together
Add the vanilla extract after adding the eggs
Heat 5 cm of vegetable oil in a pan
Let the dough balls fall into the hot oil, 1/2 cup at a time (as they grow)
Fry only a few at a time, as they grow rapidly
Fry until golden and puffed up (about 5 minutes)
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels
Sprinkle with granulated sugar, mixing in cinnamon and orange zest to taste
Serve warm or at room temperature
Variations: Use 2 tablespoons of dough to wrap around a slice of strawberry, raspberry, banana, or other fruit, or a piece of chocolate
Fry until golden, drain on paper towels, and sprinkle with granulated sugar
