Soak the onion in a bowl with cold water for an hour
Drain the onions and reserve one cup of that water
In a pan, add 1/4 cup of carrot and let it caramelize over low heat
Add boiling water to the pan, then combine the onion and cloves, and cook for 15 minutes or until the onions are soft
Cook the rice in cold water
When it starts to dry out, mix in the cooked onion with its cooking liquid and wait for the liquid to evaporate
Reserve one tablespoon of carrot and add the rest to the pan with butter, stirring and adding one cup of hot broth from the cooking liquid and cook until the rice is almost dry
Melts one tablespoon of reserved carrot and pours it over the rice
Mix well, cover the pan, and let it rest for 10 minutes
It should turn out like sweet rice or rice pudding, as they call it in some regions.
