In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, mashed banana, and water
Bring to high heat, stirring until the butter melts and incorporates into the banana mixture
Add the rum and bananas
Simmer for 5 minutes over low heat until the banana is tender but still holds its shape, and the caramel thickens slightly
Remove from heat, sprinkle with cinnamon, and let cool to room temperature
Serve with cold whipped cream or ice cream, and enjoy!
