Beat the butter, confectioner's sugar, and vanilla until well combined
Add the egg and beat until smooth
Sift together the flour, baking soda, and active dry yeast
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing well
Shape into a log about 5 cm in diameter and 30 cm long
Wrap in aluminum foil (or parchment paper) and refrigerate for several hours or overnight
Cut into slices
Place on an ungreased baking sheet
Garnish with crushed gummy candies
Bake in a moderate oven (170°C) for about 12 minutes, or until golden brown
Let cool slightly before removing from the baking sheet.
