1 cup unsalted butter or margarine at room temperature - 240g
1 egg, lightly beaten - 24g

1 cup unsalted butter or margarine at room temperature - 240g

Mix together the flour, confectioner's sugar, dark chocolate chips, and cinnamon in a large bowl
Add the softened butter or margarine, cut into small pieces, and mix with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs
Add the lightly beaten egg and mix well
Shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and refrigerate for 30 minutes or until firm enough to be opened
Open the dough and roll out one-third of it to about 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface
Cut into shapes with a cookie cutter or a star-shaped knife and place on an ungreased baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch between each biscuit
Bake in a preheated moderate oven (180°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until firm
Remove from the baking sheet and let cool
Decorate to taste
Store in an airtight container
Yields 120 biscuits.
