200g guava paste, cut into small squares

Combine the flour and sugar
Add the softened butter a little at a time, working the dough with your fingertips until it forms a crumbly mixture
Spread half of the dough in a 20x30cm baking dish, pressing down slightly
Sprinkle with guava squares and the remaining dough
The guava squares should not be visible
Bake in a moderate oven (180°C) until golden brown
Remove from the oven and immediately cut into squares
Let cool before removing from the baking dish
These cookies can be stored in sealed containers for up to 2 weeks, serving 10-12 people
