Beat the butter or margarine with the carob in a bowl until light and fluffy
Add the egg and milk, beating well
Beat again
Sieve the flour with the salt and baking powder
Add to the creamy mixture, beating very well
Leave the dough in the refrigerator overnight
When it's time to bake, preheat the oven and lightly grease two baking sheets by sprinkling them with a little all-purpose flour
Open a small amount of dough at a time, leaving it quite thin on a floured surface
Cut into biscuit shape with a biscuit cutter or glass
Dust the biscuits lightly with carob
Place in prepared baking sheets
Bake in a moderate oven for 5 minutes until ready
Yield: 36-50 larger biscuits or 6 batches of smaller ones
