Mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves
Beat the butter or margarine with the sugar, egg, and coffee in a large bowl until well combined
Add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined
Fold in the crystallized fruit, raisins, and nuts
Divide the dough into generous tablespoon-sized portions, placing them onto a lightly greased baking sheet leaving about 2 cm of space between each biscuit
Bake in a moderate oven for 12 minutes or until lightly golden
Remove from the baking sheet and let cool completely
Store in an airtight container for up to one week before serving.
