400g of dried black plums in syrup
3/4 cup of butter
1 cup of sugar
3 eggs
1 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/3 cup of buttermilk

Soak the plums in boiling water
Let it rest for 30 minutes
Drain well
Remove the pits
Chop the plums and measure out 1 cup
Beat the butter with the sugar
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Mix the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg, and cloves
Alternate adding the butter mixture and buttermilk to the dry ingredients, beating well
Add the chopped plums
Pour into a small baking dish
Bake in a moderate oven (170°C) for about 1 hour and 30 minutes
Cut into squares.
