1 cup strong hot coffee
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup boiling water

Sift together flour and salt
Add brown sugar to butter or margarine, beating well
Add eggs
Beat again
Mix in chocolate with coffee
Stir until chocolate melts
Add to previous mixture
Slowly add flour with salt, mixing well
Dissolve baking soda in boiling water
Add to dough and mix well
Place in two 20- or 22-cm cake pans, well greased and lightly floured at the bottom
Bake in a moderate oven for 30-35 minutes
Let cool completely and cover with coffee glaze.
