For the syrup: 1 1/2 cups of orange juice (360 ml), 1/4 cup of sugar

Melt the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl until smooth
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
Add the baking powder and flour, mixing until just combined
Add the orange juice and zest
Mix until well combined
Pour the batter into an ungreased 23 cm (9 inch) round cake pan with a hole in the center
Bake in a preheated moderate oven (180°C) for 30 minutes, or until golden brown, inserting a toothpick which comes out clean
Prepare the syrup: mix the orange juice and sugar
Poke holes all over the cake
Pour the syrup evenly over the top of the cake
Refrigerate and then unmold.
