4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
6 tablespoons active dry yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup unsalted butter or ghee
1 1/4 cups whole milk
2 egg whites
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 cup whipped cream
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 kg fresh strawberries or strawberry jam, sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted

1 kg fresh strawberries or strawberry jam, sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Sift the first four ingredients together
Cut the butter into this mixture; add milk and eggs, mix lightly and knead slightly
Divide into two portions
Place on a lightly floured surface
Roll out the dough to fit your cake mold
Place the first layer in the mold and brush with melted butter; place the second layer on top and bake for 20 minutes in a hot oven
Add vanilla extract and confectioners' sugar to whipped cream
Reserve 15 of the most beautiful strawberries or strawberry jam slices
Mash remaining strawberries with granulated sugar (if using canned strawberry jam omit sugar)
Separate cake layers and spread whipped cream on top, place mashed strawberries
Place second layer and spread whipped cream
Arrange whole strawberries on top of the cake.
