1 cup chopped walnuts (or pecans or hazelnuts)

Sift together flour, yeast, and salt
Beat butter or margarine with a fork until it's light and fluffy
Add egg yolks and vanilla extract and beat well
Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, beating just until combined
Fold in chopped walnuts
Finally, fold in beaten egg whites until no white streaks remain
Pour into a 9x13-inch baking dish and bake at moderate temperature for about 50 minutes.
