Place the confectioner's sugar, 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine, and grated ginger in a round refractory dish with a diameter of 22 cm
Bake in a microwave oven at high power for 2 minutes or until melted
Arrange the pear slices on top
Mix the all-purpose flour, confectioner's sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl
Add the butter or margarine, milk, and vanilla extract
Mix until just combined
Add the egg and mix only to combine
Pour over the pear slices
Place the dish on an inverted plate in the oven
Bake at medium-high power for 8-12 minutes or until cooked through but still slightly soft in the center
Remove from the oven, cover with aluminum foil, and let cool for 20 minutes before unmolding, onto a tray
Serves 10 portions.
