1 cup plus 3 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 and 1/2 cups of granulated sugar
4 large eggs
4 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon of active dry yeast
1/2 cup of whole milk
3 tablespoons of bittersweet chocolate
2 tablespoons of rum (optional)

Beat the butter or margarine at room temperature for 30 seconds
Gradually add the granulated sugar, eggs, and beat in medium speed
Alternate adding the flour mixed with yeast and milk, beating in slow speed
Divide the dough into three parts
To one part, add the bittersweet chocolate and rum (if desired)
Grease a 26 cm diameter cake pan with a hole in the middle
Place one white portion of the dough
Cover with the chocolate-covered dough and top with the second white portion
Poke a knife in various places to create a marbled effect
Bake in a moderate oven (170°C) until a toothpick comes out clean.
