Mix the leavening ingredients in a bowl to obtain a dough
Let it rest for 10 minutes
Add 4 cups of all-purpose flour, sugar, unsalted butter, eggs, salt, ground nutmeg, milk, beer, Porto, and vermouth
Beat everything in a stand mixer using a heavy-duty dough hook until smooth
Place the dough on a floured surface and knead slightly, adding more flour if needed
Add the fruits and mix well
Make a roll of about 50 cm in length, then shape it into a ring and place it in a 35-cm pizza pan lined with all-purpose flour
In the center of the king's cake, place a bowl with the outer part greased and floured
Decorate to taste, cover with a cloth, and let it rest in a protected area for about 2 hours or until doubled in volume
Remove the bowl
Baste the entire cake with the lightly beaten egg and dust with sugar
Place it in a hot oven (200°C) preheated and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown
Unmold it after cooling, and serve
