1 cup of Gruyère cheese

Whisk the butter or margarine in a bowl until it's creamy and smooth
Add the washed and pitted anchovies, finely chopped
Whisk until the mixture is completely smooth and well combined
Cut the Gruyère cheese into thin, rectangular slices of uniform size
Spread the cheese paste with anchovies over one slice of cheese, cover with another slice to form a sandwich
Press firmly and refrigerate until ready to serve
Garnish with 1/2 nut or a pickle spear, secured with a toothpick
