Peel the carrots and cut into thin strips
Cook the carrots in chicken broth, covered, for 10 minutes
Melt the butter or margarine; add the onion and cook, covered, for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
Add the remaining ingredients, stir well, and let it come to a boil
Add the carrots and broth; simmer slowly, uncovered, for 10 minutes
Serve hot in 6 portions.
