Mix the sugar, 1/2 cup of warm water, and yeast, then let it rest
In another bowl, combine the flour and salt
Add the eggs, oil, and yeast mixture
Add the remaining water and mix well
Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic
Cover and let rise for 1 hour
Knead again and let rise for another hour
Divide the dough in half and shape into three equal pieces
Form rolls and shape into two braids, closing the ends
Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise for an additional 40 minutes
Brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds
Bake in a moderate oven (180°C) for about 50 minutes.
