Place 4 cups of water in a pot and, when it reaches a boil, add 8 whole okras. Let it cook for 10 minutes. Remove the okra with a skimmer and reserve. Increase the heat, let the water come to a rolling boil and gradually add 1 cup of fubá, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Do not let the water stop boiling. Add ½ teaspoon of salt and the okra. Continue stirring always and let it cook for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from heat, add small amounts of ½ cup of butter or margarine broken into pieces, stirring until all the butter is incorporated. Stir until the okra has almost disappeared and the fubá is fluffy. Check the seasoning and serve very hot.
