Cook the tomatoes over low heat for 10 minutes
Melt the butter or margarine
Combine the flour, salt, and pepper and mix well
Add the milk and stir until it thickens
Add the bay leaves, clove, and onion to the tomatoes and cook for an additional 5 minutes
Strain through a sieve and add to the mixture gradually, stirring constantly
Heat, continuing to stir
Serve garnished with a little whipped cream
Serves 4-6 portions.
