Bring the wine to a boil with the cinnamon, mint, and hortelã leaves
If using peppermint, do not add it to the pot
When the mixture almost comes to a boil, turn off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes at least
Beat the eggs well with the sugar, as if making a custard, and gradually add the still-warm wine
The wine should be cooled before serving
Serves warm on cold winter nights.
