1 kg of pumpkin, weighed after cleaned

4 cinnamon sticks
5 whole cloves
4 cups of sugar

Cut the pumpkin into cubes and cook with 1/2 cup of water for about 25 minutes, or until it's soft and all the water has evaporated
Remove from heat
Add sugar, cinnamon, and cloves
Pound the pumpkin cubes against the sides of the pan using a wooden spoon
Return to heat and cook until thickened well
Add grated coconut and cook, stirring constantly, until it's released from the bottom of the pan
Let cool and serve in compote dishes.
