1 Using a soft brush, wash the figs under running water
Cut them in half with their skins on and reserve
In a large non-stick skillet, melt the butter
Add the figs, cinnamon sticks, and star anise pods
2 Cook over low heat until the figs are tender and have a deep golden brown color
Shake the skillet occasionally during cooking and be careful not to burn
3 Remove from heat, sprinkle with salt and black pepper, and mix delicately
Cover, let it rest for 5 minutes, and serve warm as an accompaniment to roasted meats.
