4 medium oranges
2 cups of sugar
2 cups of vodka or rum

Juice the oranges and set aside the orange peel from one of the oranges
Remove the white membranes from the reserved orange peel and cut into strips
Add enough water to the juice to make 2 cups of liquid
Bring the mixture of orange juice, orange peel, and sugar to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes
Let it cool
Strain into a glass bottle with a screw-top lid and add vodka or rum
Tightly seal and let sit at room temperature for 3-4 weeks
Bottle in a decorative bottle
Close well, makes 5 cups.
