Mixture
1 cup of butter, softened
1 cup of sugar, granulated
1 egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
Options: 1) 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 2) 1/4 cup of chopped hazelnuts, 3) 1/4 cup of shredded coconut, 4) 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 5) 100g of melted dark chocolate
Mixture

Beat the butter and add the sugar gradually
Beat until light and fluffy
Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well
Sift together the flour and baking soda, then gradually add to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition
Divide the dough into 6 portions, and add one of the options to each portion
Leave one portion plain
Form rolls approximately 2.5 cm in diameter
Wrap with aluminum foil, and refrigerate for about 20 minutes
Cut the chilled dough into slices approximately 1 cm thick, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
Bake in a moderate oven (170°C) for 10 to 12 minutes
