1 cup of finely ground unsweetened cocoa powder - 180g
1/2 cup of butter or margarine - 120g
1/2 cup of Karo (corn syrup) - 160g
2 tablespoons of fresh or canned heavy cream - 30ml
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

In a small saucepan, combine the unsweetened cocoa powder and half of the butter
Bring to a simmer over low heat
Let it cook for about 3 minutes
Add the Karo and heavy cream, whisking vigorously
Reduce the heat and let it cook for an additional minute
Remove from the heat immediately and add the remaining butter, whisking well
Serve warm or at room temperature
Yield: approximately 2 1/3 cups, or about 20 tablespoons.
