1 pre-rolled puff pastry
Vanilla cream
3 cups of milk
3/4 cup of sugar
6 tablespoons of cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3 beaten eggs
1 tablespoon of butter
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

Scald the milk in a bain-marie
Mix together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt
Add to the milk
Cook while stirring constantly until thickened (in a bain-marie)
Cover and cook for an additional 10 minutes
Add some of the warm mixture to the eggs and then combine with the hot milk mixture
Cook for 5 minutes while constantly stirring
Add the butter
Place in a dish and sprinkle with a little sugar, to prevent a skin from forming on top
Refrigerate and fold in the vanilla cream
Roll out the puff pastry very thinly
Cut into strips of 7 1/2 cm width by 35 cm length
Place in baking dishes lined with parchment paper; puncture with a fork
Cover with another baking dish and bake in a hot oven for 5 minutes
Reduce heat and bake for an additional 15 minutes
Cut into strips and fill with vanilla cream
Top with a confectioner's sugar glaze made from powdered sugar and water
For the garnish, melt chocolate, dip a fork in it, and create designs on top of the napoleons.
