Spread butter or margarine on the bread slices and cut them into cubes
Grease a glass baking dish large enough for 8 ramekins with butter or cooking spray
Assemble layers of bread and cheese
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, mustard, salt, and black pepper
Pour this mixture over the layers of bread and cheese, cover with aluminum foil, and refrigerate overnight
Bake in a moderate oven (170°F) for 1 hour, or until golden brown
Garnish with sprigs of parsley, crispy bacon strips, and shredded potato sticks
Serve warm, divided into 3 to 4 portions.
