Butter the bottom of a baking dish with unsalted butter
Sprinkle a layer of grated cheese over the butter
Carefully break the eggs on top, making sure the whites don't leak out
Pour a little heavy cream over the eggs and sprinkle again with cheese
Season with salt and pepper, then bake at a low temperature until the eggs are set but not hard
Serve directly from the baking dish.
