Take the egg out of the refrigerator the night before to allow it to reach room temperature
Place water in a pan and bring to a simmer
When the water starts to boil (indicated by a layer of bubbles at the bottom of the pan), carefully place the egg into the water with a spoon
Let the egg cook for 3 minutes, over low heat, then turn off the heat
Have an adult help you drain the hot water and place the soft-boiled egg in a suitable holder
Serve immediately, accompanied by a pinch of salt.
