Beat the egg whites until stiff, then fold in the yolks and whisk well
Add the butter and whisk a bit more
Sift the dry ingredients, excluding the wheat germ
Add the beaten eggs, alternating with the wheat germ and milk, and whisk very well
Mix everything together thoroughly
Bake in a 9-inch (25 cm) round cake pan at moderate heat (350°F/180°C), preheated oven, until golden brown
