Combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a stand mixer bowl
Add the butter or margarine
Pour in the warm water and beat for 2 minutes on medium speed, scraping down the sides
Add the egg and 1 1/2 cups of flour, or enough to obtain a smooth mixture
Beat for an additional 2 minutes at high speed
Add enough flour to achieve a soft dough
Knead onto a floured surface for 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic
Form into a ball, cover with cloth, let rise in a protected area for 20 minutes
Remove the cloth and reduce the dough
Shape into desired pãezinhos
Cover with aluminum foil or parchment paper without pressing the cake
Refrigerate at 2 to 24 hours
Remove from refrigerator and let rest for 10 minutes
Bake in a preheated oven at 200° until golden brown.
