Soak the cod in cold water, enough to cover, for 24 hours, changing the water several times
Drain
Cook in water, enough to cover, for about 25 minutes or until cooked
Drain in a colander
Rinse with cold water
Remove the skin and bones
Cut into pieces
Fry the onion in butter, stirring until softened
Process with the cod in a food processor or blender until creamy consistency is achieved
Without stopping the motor, slowly add olive oil, vegetable oil, heavy cream, and lime juice
Mix well
Chill in the refrigerator for a few hours to thicken
Serve in the center of a platter
Toast slices of bread in a pan
Arrange around the cod cakes and serve as an appetizer
